AISES: AASONA-Advancing Agricultural Science Opportunities for Native Americans

The AISES Advancing Agricultural Science Opportunities for Native Americans (AASONA) is for students interested in or pursuing agriculture related STEM degrees, with an eventual career in agriculture and/or ranching. Students receiving this scholarship must agree to becoming a part of a cohort of other Native students in the same field. Travel to the AISES National Conference and AISES Leadership Summit is required and travel scholarships are available for cohort members. Also included, is a mentorship with current Native farmers and ranchers with meetings both virtual and in person at the conferences. Participation in the mentorship is required for all scholarship recipients. Students in this program are eligible to apply for research awards to fund research related to farming, ranching, and related science.

SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT:
$5,000 per student per academic year.

All agriculture related STEM degrees. Examples:

STUDENT STATUS
Students must be full-time undergraduate or graduate students at an accredited two-year or four-year college/university for the 2020-2021 academic year.

GRADE POINT AVERAGE
Must have a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA.

TRIBAL CITIZENSHIP
Applicants must be: an enrolled citizen or a decedent of an enrolled citizen of a federal or state recognized American Indian Tribe or Alaska Native Village. Enrollment documents and/or a copy of birth certificate(s) showing descendancy from an enrolled citizen, are acceptable. Applicant may also, instead, provide a copy of their Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood or Certificate of Degree of Alaska Native Blood (CDIB) card.

AISES MEMBERSHIP
All scholarships require applicants be current AISES members at the time of application. All applicants will be required to enter a valid AISES membership number. To get a membership number join AISES or retrieve your membership number through AISES Membership Portal.
